Self learning is underrated in the modern era of education. While kernel being the heart of an operating system, traditional universities [in India] are still far away from teaching anything more than the definition of Linux Kernel. The talk will mostly focus on my journey of self learning and diving into the kernel from university days to becoming a full-time Linux Kernel hacker. I’ll also explain about the practical learning approaches I use to learn from Linux kernel source code, automating the learning [via bash/coccinelle/python scripts] and how it helps me in improving my craft as a developer and as an explainer to next generation of university students. This talk will give a story, a set of best practices and
lot of real life examples.
